Equipment:

Veolia Separations’ equipment fleet is the largest collection of mobile sludge processing equipment in the nation. Our equipment is maintained fully operational and ready for rapid deployment to meet all of our project needs. Veolia owns and operates Filter Presses, Belt Presses, Centrifuges, Thermal Dryers, Dredges (manned and remote), Mix Tanks, Screening/Shredding Systems, Sludge Pumps, Manway Cannons, and other items as required to create the optimum process for a specific sludge stream.

Veolia’s equipment is maintained through a comprehensive preventative maintenance program that keeps it in excellent operating condition and ready for immediate deployment. Maintenance is performed by experienced and trained personnel to ensure top performance in difficult working environments.

Please see the major equipment and technology descriptions that follow. Veolia Separations is ready and willing to answer any and all questions concerning our equipment/technology and why we recommend one chemical and/or mechanical process over another.

Optimum Process & Technology: Veolia’s process and technical recommendations are based on the optimum way to meet and exceed the customer’s unique goals and objectives based on his/her specific sludge stream. The following issues, facts, and figures are critical to selecting the optimum process:

  • Condition, character and content of the sludge. Factors such as age, temperature, pH, chemical constituents, solids content, oil/water content, presence of surfactant(s) (e.g., emulsion), and history of the sludge stream
  • Reaction of the sludge sample to chemical and mechanical Separation/Dewatering techniques
  • Customer’s Site Logistics (Utilities, Access, Security, Terrain, Weather, Location, etc.)
  • Customer’s Objectives/Specifications for the solid, water, and oil streams
  • State and Federal Regulatory Guidelines and/or Restrictions

The “key” to our success: Evaluate the complete array of chemical and mechanical technology options based on their overall cost effectiveness and their ability to meet/exceed the customer’s specific objectives. Since Veolia owns and operates all of the possible technologies, we are not pre-disposed or pressured to “push” one technology over another like our competitors often do.

Sludge Treatability Laboratory

sludge treatability laborotary

Veolia Separations owns and operates a modern, full-service sludge treatability laboratory located in Ashland, Kentucky. Our lab is equipped with bench top test equipment that simulates full-scale process equipment and can predict actual field results based on representative sludge samples. The lab tests and evaluates every sludge sample for using every possible chemical (e.g., polymer, coagulant, filter aids, etc.) and mechanical (e.g., filter press, belt press, centrifuge, dryer, etc.) separation/dewatering technology.

Evaluation of Sludge Sample Properties (pH, %solids, density, etc.)

Bench top tests and lab analysis of chemical pre-treatment options (polymers, flocculants, coagulants, filter aids such as DE, perlite, lime/ferric, etc.)

Bench top simulation of Belt Press, Filter Press, Centrifuge & Dryer Technologies

Evaluation of each technology and the resulting Cake Quality (dry solids, density, BTU, etc.)

Evaluation of each technology and the resulting Water/Oil Quality (TSS, BS&W, etc.)

The “key” to our success: Evaluate the wide array of chemical and mechanical technology options based on their overall cost effectiveness and their ability to meet/exceed the customer’s specific objectives.

Vendor/Supplier Alliances

In addition to our own extensive inventory of sludge processing and tank cleaning resources, Veolia Separations has ready access to additional resources (equipment, knowledge, experience, etc.) through a vast network of equipment suppliers and key vendor alliances (Godwin, Liquid Waste Technologies, Rain for Rent, Nalco Chemical, Siemens, etc.).

Financial Strength and Reputation

Veolia ES has the financial ability to procure any resource necessary to support our operations and meet or exceed our customer'’ expectations. Our reputation will always take priority over profits. Veolia ES is in this business for the long-term. We value and strive for repeat customers.
